Research and Planning: Double page spread analysis

Here is a double page spread of a music magazine. I am going to talk about the genre of the magazine double spread, the layout, the representation and finally the audience.

Genre
The genre of the magazine looks to be dub step/r&b/electronic. I can tell this because of the image used. The image used shows a man who is laid back but also has a facial expression which could also mean that he is acting serious. The clothes that the model is wearing could also give a hint at what the genre is. Finally it says "disco revenge" as the main title, this shows that the model maybe a DJ at a disco and may play dub step/r&b/electronic genre.

Layout
Next is there layout of the double page spread. The double page spread is spread out equally. All of the writing is in columns which makes the double page spread neat and tidy but also makes it look professional as well. The images that are used do not effect the writing (not covered up and still readable). The text size used is a reasonable size (meaning that it is not huge on the page). Before the writer writes the article there is a small introduction just before it which makes the layout look professional.

Representation
The model is fully clothed, so his dressed appropriately for the double spread in the magazine. The way the model is clothed creates an impression that the main audience for this magazine is males that are above the age of 16 to the mid 20's (25). The model is wearing clothes that people who listen to this genre of music would also wear, this makes him appropriately dressed. The images are also different shot types which makes the double page spread more effective. The shot types used is a mid shot and a long shot which shows the variation on the double page spread.

Audience
The audience that this music magazine is aimed at is 16-25 year olds who are male. I can tell this because of the way that the model is represented. I can also tell this because of the colour scheme that is used on the double page spread. The three colours are white, black and green which these colours would be associated with this genre.
