Research and Planning: Music magazine analysis

Here is a VIBE magazine. This magazine is aimed at an audience that is interested in Hip-Hop and Rap music. The age range that this music is aimed to is teenagers and young adults. On the magazine we can see that the masthead is large. The colour scheme of the masthead has red fading into the black. The masthead is a block font which shows that it is to do with rap. The main image is a medium longshot. The main image shows Eminem having no emotion on his facial expressions. This is to show that he is confiednt in what he does and he is showing that he is better than everyone else. The clothes that Eminem is wearing is a black vest top/tank top. This is so that he is able to show his tattoos and to ale him look big. The colour scheme of the magazine cover is black, red and grey/silver. The magazine cover needs to stick to only three colours on the cover to make it simple. The coverlines on this magazine cover are naming artists like 'Kanye West and Jay-Z' to tell the user of the magazine who will be inside the magazine. One specific coverline has a large font than anyothers, this is so the user knows who the artist is on the front of the magazine cover and which artist the magazine issue is aiming at, for this magazine it is Eminem. The coverlines also tell the user what will be in the magazine for example 'Who is the best rapper ever?'. This is tell the user the main contents of the magazine. The magazine has an issue date at the bottom left hand corner. This is to make the magazine look professional but also tell the user when the magazine was made. The coverlines used are rhetorical questions. This is to make the user think about the favourite rappers and also to make an opinion. This is to get the user involved within the magazine. The coverlines are at the side of the main image or behind it. This is to make the main image the most important part of the magazine cover.
